You Make Your Own Sandwiches (….for lunch and for life)

sandwichI spend a lot of time talking to people about the status of their job search process. Many job seekers find it depressing because of the amount of time they spend setting up and attending meetings that produce no results. Because networking is a numbers game (or so they’ve been told), they engage in the same process over and over and over again:

Set up three meetings. Check.

Have those meetings. Check.

Get the names of three other people to meet. Check.

Set up those meetings. Check.

Those meetings produce more names. Check.

In other words, job seekers repeat the same process, without getting anywhere. (Or, as I like to put it: Lather. Rinse. Repeat.) No wonder they feel depressed! The fact is that some traditional job search techniques are not as effective today because circumstances have changed. The job search process is a brand new game—but it’s one that you can win, if you have the right tools and know how to play.

There is a classic Peanuts comic strip that shows Charlie Brown opening his lunch on a few consecutive days and dreading what he finds. Finally, Lucy asks Charlie Brown who makes his sandwiches. He says that he does! Many of us continue to do the same thing day in and day out, even though it makes us miserable and simply isn’t working.

In The Perpetual Paycheck: 5 Secrets to Getting a Job, Keeping a Job, and Earning Income for Life in the Loyalty-Free Workplace  I explain a new approach to the job search process. This book is not about picking sides, or convincing you that employers are bad and employees are good. It’s about providing you with a guide to the modern workplace—the loyalty-free workplace—so you can make informed decisions to achieve the most success under the existing circumstances. The loyalty-free environment is to be embraced, not denied.

There is a reason that The Perpetual Paycheck has been a #1 best-selling Kindle Ebook in three job search categories. The message is resonating with readers because it provides a new approach to the workplace that works.

How are your sandwiches? If you’ve read this far, perhaps not so great. Isn’t it time to make a new one? Don’t you deserve a good job with benefits that provides you with the economic security to live a full life? The answer should be a resounding yes, and there has never been a better time to achieve that than now. And, as my gift to you, for a limited time you can get The Perpetual Paycheck Ebook for only $1.99.

And, even if you decide The Perpetual Paycheck is not for you, make it a point to try a new job strategy this week. Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. You do not have time for insanity—you only have time to identify rewards and claim them.

Best of luck with your job search, I know you can do it!
