When my company decided to drastically alter the terms of my contract (not due to poor performance but because they were ‘going in a different direction’,” Lori immediately rose to my defense. In the face of a planned $20,000 pay cut and demotion, at one point, one of the chief “bean counters” cowardly said, “We’re just trying to do what’s best for her,” meaning myself. Lori deftly countered with “Don’t ever say that you’re doing what’s good for her. There is nothing good for her in this proposal,” which was the first time I felt that anyone at the table had my best interests at heart. But the beauty of what Lori does is that she built on that statement, in order to establish a position of power, giving her the ability to ask for some non-monetary “perks” in exchange for the loss in pay and position. That was Lori at her finest.
Lori, quite simply, cares about people. That is no small matter, when it comes to career counseling or employment negotiations. Her years of involvement in employment matters form a rock-solid foundation on which to assist those who have been wronged, those who need to renegotiate a position, those whose workplace issues need to be aired and taken seriously. If your current situation is untenable, Lori won’t “sugar-coat” the reality – which is empowering for the employee, as you need to know exactly where you stand and who holds the cards. That allows her to negotiate the next step, toward the best possible outcome for you, given the circumstances. You will find no better advocate.
